The Illuminated Narrator: The Art of Transformative Storytelling

The stories you tell yourself can create powerful transformation. Through the oral tradition of storytelling, revisit a story from your past and breathe new life and meaning into your life’s most significant events.

The group will participate in a variety of multi-model exercises including written prompts, guided meditation, art activities and storytelling from many cultures to return to specific life events. Together, we’ll connect any related threads in this lifetimes (and who knows, perhaps others) to heal the past. Participants will work collectively to understand the rich lessons and interconnectedness that comes from sharing life’s most meaningful stories.

“Culture is simply the ensemble of stories we tell ourselves about ourselves.” –Clifford Geertz, American anthropologist

“Sometimes telling the story is the thing that saves your life.” – Lidia Yuknavitch, author

Consider bringing any of the following:
•a story your family tells about you;
•a difficult life event;
•a family story that has been passed down for generations;
•a story you’re proud of.

The Illuminated Narrator is offered in person in rotating locations around the United States.

Viva Institute,

“How many times have you read a testimonial that described their experience as ” life-changing” and thought to yourself: “Really?” Please put your doubts aside and give yourself the best gift ever. I met extraordinary women, was awed by exquisite scenery, led by a truly gifted teacher and made friendships I will hold in my heart forever. I went a caterpillar and left a butterfly.” – Kimberly, New Jersey
